What is
Vomakase?
The word "omakase" — Japanese for "I'll leave it to you" — describes a meal where a chef delicately curates each course for you. Vomakase borrows that spirit: your tutor curates the song and harmony parts, course by course, dish by dish — so all you need to bring is your voice and your appetite to sing.
A regular a cappella class where friends, couples, or anyone curious about their voice can come and sing together, taught by a small team of award-winning vocal coaches and arrangers.

Andrew Wong
黃文政
Vocal Asia Champion · Arranger & Music Director
Music director, arranger and baritone of Boonfaysau — Vocal Asia 2018 champion and Special Award winner at Austria's vokal.total 2023 for Most Musical Vocal Percussionist. Twice appointed Artistic Director for the Hong Kong International A Cappella Festival. His arrangements have been performed at City Hall, the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, and community stages across Kwai Tsing and Sham Shui Po through the Shape of Harmony series.
半肥瘦音樂總監、編曲及男中音。半肥瘦於2018奪得 Vocal Asia 阿卡貝拉亞洲盃全場總冠軍，2023年於奧地利 vokal.total 獲評審特別獎「最具音樂感人聲敲擊手」。Andrew曾兩度擔任香港國際無伴奏合唱節擔任藝術統籌，其編曲作品曾於香港大會堂、香港文化中心及《聲的形狀》系列社區演出中呈現。

Co-founder, Echogram · Founder, Count In Vocal Studio
Co-founder of women's a cappella group Echogram and founder of Count In Vocal Studio (est. 2024). A graduate of EdUHK's Music Education programme, Astrid has been a professional vocal coach since 2013, with experience spanning choral leadership camps, the HKYAF's a cappella group RAW, Yat Po Singers, and schools across Hong Kong. She has performed as a guest vocalist at Carnegie Hall in New York, and remains a prominent fixture on Hong Kong's a cappella performance and education scene.
女子無伴奏合唱組合 Echogram 創團成員，並於2024年創立「一拍即合唱工作室」。香港教育大學音樂教育系畢業，自2013年起擔任聲樂導師，曾任教於聲蜚合唱節、香港青年藝術協會RAW、一舖清唱及多間學校。曾作為客席聲樂演出者於紐約卡內基音樂廳演出，至今活躍於本地無伴奏合唱表演及教育舞台。

HK International a cappella Contest Champion · Founder, Acapop
Champion and Best Stage Performance Award winner at the 2023 HK International a cappella Contest with his group Instrument Free. A founding member of PolyU's vocal ensemble Zizizam, Bosco founded Acapop in 2023 — a social media platform dedicated to building Hong Kong's a cappella community. He joined the Shape of Harmony team in 2024, contributing to school outreach and community concert production across different districts.
以 Instrument Free 走器樂團奪得2023年香港國際無伴奏合唱比賽冠軍及最佳舞台演繹獎。香港理工大學人聲樂團 Zizizam 創團成員，並於2023年創立 Acapop，以社交媒體推廣無伴奏合唱文化。2024年加入《聲的形狀》社區計劃，參與學校外展及社區音樂會製作。

Do I need any singing experience? 需要唱歌經驗嗎？

Not for Starter — if you can hum a melody, you have everything you need. Ensemble suits those with some singing background. Artiste is for those with a cappella performance experience who want advanced training.
入門班無需任何經驗——只要你能哼出旋律就足夠了。進階班適合有唱歌經驗的朋友；而精英班則適合有無伴奏合唱演出經驗，希望接受進階訓練的人士。

You can come alone or with friends. Groups of 2 enjoy a 5% discount, and groups of 3 or more enjoy 10% off. Note: Artiste is individual application only.

Will there be any outcome or video filming in term-end? 學期尾會一齊拍片嗎？

Ensemble and Artiste students end each course with a studio recording session — your group records the song you've built together, edited and mixed. We also shoot a short film cover: a well-lit, edited video of the performance that's yours to keep and share. Starter students close with a video recording by the term-end.
進階班及精英班學員於課程結尾設有錄音體驗，將課程中練習的歌曲錄製及混音，並拍攝短片，剪輯後可隨時分享。入門班的同學則以學期結尾影片拍攝作結，同步錄音及拍攝影片。

What do I have to submit for the audition video? 試音影片需要交甚麼內容？

Artiste applicants will receive audition details upon submitting the application form. The video shall include 2 parts: 1 minute of a song you choose, and one of the voice part from the set piece. Vocal percussion is welcome but not mandatory. No background music is allowed throughout the video.

Yes — full payment is required to confirm your place for Starter and Ensemble applicants, payment details will be shown after the form is submitted. For successful Artiste applicants, payment details will be provided upon result announcement. Your place will only be confirmed once full payment is received.

What if I miss a session? 如果缺席了一堂怎辦？

No make-up sessions are available. As each session builds directly on the last, missed sessions may affect your group's progress — we'll do our best to help you catch up, but please check your availability across all 10 sessions before signing up.
